Sitka is a kind of spruce tree. Big, old, and deeply rooted. And Sitka is the name of an Oregon based band playing music that is fun, familiar, and deeply rooted. Some originals, some interpretations of popular classics, topped with tasty jams – all just plain good music. Most of the band is also big and old.
The members of Sitka enjoy playing casual settings for friends and soon-to-be friends. Sitka's jazzy, trippy, folk-a-delic originals, classic blues, and re-imagined songs spring from influences like John Hiatt, The Wood Brothers, The Grateful Dead and a host of other great song writers and performers. Sometimes we throw in something you’d never expect – maybe Donovan, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Papa Chubby or The Strawberry Alarm Clock.
Band members have played the U.S., Europe, Asia, & Africa and now come together along the Central Oregon Coast and in the Willamette Valley to pick and grin. Performances are a tasty mix of acoustic and electric guitars with percussion - funky, frisky, and always fun.
